Fun on the Frio

A few weeks ago we went with the Payne family to the frio river in Leakey Texas. Nathan, his Uncle Ronnie and one of his friends did the annual River Ride where they ride their bikes up the enormous mountains in the hill country for over 60 miles. Sandy (Nathan's Mom) and I did the 35 mile trek the first year and I vowed to never challenge myself in that way again, so now I just enjoy cheering Nathan on. I was so very proud of him for pushing himself in that way and accomplishing something so challenging.He is teaching his son so many good lessons and he doesn't even know it.
The whole Payne family decided to cheer the men on in the ride and got a cabin on the frio for the weekend. It was the most beautiful place on the river. A nice log cabin with a huge back porch that over looked an amazing spot on the river. Everyone fished, played and hung out for the weekend. Nathan cooked up some great hot dogs and burgers and we enjoyed smores by the fire.... The weather could not have been more perfect. Too cool to get into the river although Nathan and his uncle did go for a swim... but the weather was perfect enough to enjoy the sun outside with a cool breeze. It was a wonderful weekend with lots of great fun and family... Cant wait to get to do it again!!!
